Functional fitness encompasses lifting, jumping, and lateral movements. This means most athletes need stability AND flexibility. To get that combination, we started at the bottom. Testing different traction patterns, we optimised the natural motion of the forefoot, midfoot, and heel. And, as for ground control—we maximised it with the lowest heel-to-toe drop in the market: 2mm.


After releasing the first UA TriBase™ Reign, we knew we’d created something that made focused performers better. But why stop there?


We took all the feedback we heard and kept pushing. Evolving the UA TriBase™ Reign 2, 3 & 4 to have a wider midfoot, more arch support, a larger heel counter, and a lighter, tighter fit. Adjusting the details to give our athletes the edge they need to be greater.

While the Under Armour TriBase™ training shoes are a must-have for high-intensity gym sessions, they are not as supportive when completing lengthy cardio sessions. For walking or running, look to training shoes with more cushion in the midsole to help support your feet, ankles and legs, like the Under Armour HOVR™ shoes that returns energy into your stride to propel you forward.

If you’re not sure about flat training shoes, try training barefoot (or with socks on). This will allow your feet to adjust to the weight load and you’ll get a better understanding of the benefits of UA TriBase™ tech.
